Missions & Outreach

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation.  Hopewell UMC is active with a number of Mission & Outreach projects in our community. We welcome you to join us at any and all of our events.

FREE COMMUNITY MEALS

On the 2nd Friday of each month we host a FREE community supper in the Fellowship Hall. EVERYONE from the community is invited. Ways to help: kitchen helpers needed to cook, serve, and clean-up. Volunteers are also needed to deliver meals to our shut-ins.

COMMUNITY MEALS AT Trinity Memorial UMC

On the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month we take meals to the parking lot of Trinity Memorial UMC Sam’s Mart to give away at no charge. Volunteers are needed to help with cooking, providing homemade desserts, packaging meals, and handing out meals.

H.E.M. (HOPEWELL EDUCATION MISSION)

Each Wednesday afternoon during the school year from 2:30 – 5:00 pm we host a tutoring program for kids 3rd-5th grade from Hopewell Elementary School. Volunteers, along with a teacher from Hopewell, assist the students with reading, math and any other homework the students need to complete. You do not have to be a teacher or reading and math expert to help the students. Ways to help: transportation (driving the kids from Hopewell Elementary to the church and/or taking them home at 5pm), volunteer to sit and listen to a child read, practice flash cards with a child memorizing their multiplication tables, play word games with the children. For more information contact the church office.

NAAMAN RECOVERY VILLAGE

Naaman Recovery Village is an 18-month Christian residential substance-use treatment facility. Their mission is to enhance Christ-centered recovery through and for the regeneration of community. They are dedicated to bringing individuals who struggle with chemical addiction into rehabilitation and recovery through a personal relationship with Christ. Hopewell’s Youth Group takes meals to the Naaman House and visits with residents on a regular basis.

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES

Hopewell UMC is pleased to host a Red Cross Blood Drive quarterly from 12:30-5:00pm on Sunday afternoon. Watch for the sign out front. Volunteers are needed to donate blood, but also to assist with snacks, greeting, set-up and tear-down.

FEED MY SHEEP SUNDAYS

On the first Sunday of each month our congregation collects non-perishable food items to give to C.O.A.T (Community Outreach Archdale-Trinity). Bring a can good with you to church on Sunday or drop it off at the church office during the week. The need for food in our area is great and every can does make a difference!

SCHOOL SUPPLY COLLECTIONS

During July & August we collect school supplies to donate to Hopewell Elementary School. Pens, pencils, notebooks, paper, scissors, hand sanitizer and other supplies help our local teachers and students to start the school year strong.
